Julie Friesen brings a wealth of diverse experience and longstanding commitment to her community over many years and across many sectors having demonstrated leadership in the not-for-profit, voluntary and public sectors for her entire career. As a Community Development Officer with Alberta Culture and Tourism, Julie assists communities in building community/regional capacity, in board development and governance, strategic planning, regional collaboration and partnership building, organizational development, program and volunteer development to name a few.
As a longstanding volunteer, Julie brings many years of experience with Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and shares a wealth of expertise in police governance, having served as Chair of the Medicine Hat Police Commission and Alberta Association of Police Governance. She has also served on the boards of the United Way of Southeastern Alberta, the Medicine Hat Library and Shortgrass Regional Library System, Cypress View Foundation, Palliser Economic Partnership, and Southeast Alberta Watershed Alliance. Julie is an elected official in the City of Medicine Hat, assuming a strong leadership role in her seventh term on City Council.
